History
Joshua was born in North Carolina. During the portal storms, both of his parents were killed, and was taken in by a married couple who lost their own son from the initial storms, but still have their daughter. This family later turns to becoming loyalists for the Combine, with Joshua's adoptive parents now becoming involved in City 12's Civil Medical Union, at high positions.
His adoptive parents encouraged Joshua to join the MPF forces, and while he was being trained at his local garrison, a rebel cell had attacked City 12's hospital and in the process of the raid, the rebels killed both of his parents during a room breach to rescue one of their compatriots that was being captured and needed to be kept alive. This encourages Joshua to rise in rank as best as he can, and then eventually switched to joining up the RPF, as he personally wants to target any group Resistance related.
Joshua has served in the RPF forces for 5 or so years now, usually turning down promotions but he has been in plenty of gunfights. Some encounters, he has been the only living member of his squadron with multiple life-threatening injuries but has been always brought back, alive. And recovered fully each time. But in the process, he has garnered a bad reputation of being 'bad luck', due to him always surviving alone after his Squad's been wiped.
