A blur of white.

That's what she saw far behind her- at the opposite end of the catwalk. It was huge... and eyed up the woman in front of it with it's blood colored lens.
Without thinking- the woman withdrew her King Cobra, sprinting foward as she hoped to come to Anna's aid. She pressed her radio button with one hand- screaming a command for Anna to retreat, while she fired distracting shots with her other.

As expected, the shots did nothing. The Commander returns fire, sending molten plasma along her side. Samiha collapses- gasping as searing hot pain rips through her body. Looking around her- she noticed no one else was around, at least that she could see. She was screwed.

A brief thought of crawling to safety reached her mind- but as the Commander advanced on Anna, she knew she couldn't leave. Struggling to pull a smoke grenade from her vest, she throws it towards Anna, before screaming over the radio for the woman to use the chance to escape. Yet... as the smoke begins to flow, the terrified woman stood like a deer in headlights in front of the Supersoldier.

Eventually, the woman did in fact emerge from the smoke... with the Commander's vice like hand crushing her jaw with a bloody pop. Samiha's eye twitched- in fear, in disgust, in pain, in anger...

Unless someone had a 50 Cal sniper rifle to take off that Commander's head, Anna would be killed before anyone could kill him. Or even worse, he wouldn't kill her...

Samiha digs into her kit to remove her stashed M79 Grenade Launcher, flipping up the sights to 50 yards and adjusting her aim. She couldn't save her... this- this would at least end her suffering, right? Her question goes unanswered as she watches rounds fly into the held Anna, the fleshy bullet shield writhing in her continued torment- until it is finally ended in the sound of a crushed skull under gauntlets.

One of the woman's eyes roll onto the ground- brain matter splattering onto the concrete.

It was too much to comprehend- she couldn't make sense of what just happened, but she knew one thing. It was another person she failed to save. Someone with hopes and dreams, someone who could have one day had a loving family- gone, just because she wasn't fast enough. Taking a pained breath- she goes to pull the trigger... but a pulse round tears through her throat before she manages.

She tasted burnt flesh. Her own burnt flesh.
She tasted blood.
And she couldn't scream.

Her vision waivered- shock beginning to set in as she choked, unable to breath.

Was this it?

No... no it wasn't.

With her last bit of strength- as blood pooled from mouth, she fires the 40mm grenade at the feet of the Commander, sending the bastard flying in a thousand pieces.

Her radio barks to life with muffled voices-
"Where did he go?"
"He dissapeared into the smoke!"

For just the slighest moment, she smiles at that.

But her smile was soon replaced by the gurgling of blood- and she knew her time was near. In this moment- she welcomed it.

However, out of the corner of her eyes, she saw some people in a window- looking in her direction. She didn't recognise the second person- but she did see Lucas with his RPG. Her crumpled body turns over on her side, trying to get his attention. Did he see her? He had to.

When he disappears from the window- she tries to comfort herself as she feels herself passing.

"He'll be here any moment."
"He wouldn't leave me behind."
"Maybe someone will get to me first."

Yet- minutes pass by, and no one comes.
She can barely hear the radio barking now- but she knew the combat was over.
Why was no one trying to help her?

The seconds keep ticking.
And her only company is the mutilated corpse of the woman she tried to save.

Her vision goes black.
