Operation Harvest Worm Moon
In times of uncertainty, an evil can brew within the hearts of men; justified by the instinct of survival.
The Watcher with the help of Polybius has shined light on the nefarious doings of Shah, and The Scorched Syndicate. This group of opportunists seeks not the righteous path of reclaiming humanity, despite their status at outlanders. The Syndicate have been revealed to have been given a pass to exist on the condition of their slaving enterprise being of use to the Combine. One could argue that people can be more valuable to them than the interpersonal relationships some have, but only perverted and twisted. They see not the value in life itself, but by what it can provide. In some ways, their underhanded dealings are not so different from the views of their Benefactors.
It's nothing short of a human trafficking nightmare, the organic tissues and materials being of use to provide maintenance, and medical care for their Protection Units, and construction of their ascended soldiers. What was once a man's face and visage, their being - contorted into grafting for another cog in the machine.
The group appears to have benefactors of their own though, seeking to put an end to the visceral horror-show; to give justice to such a depraved enterprise whilst also striking a blow to the Combine's capabilities. To end the madness, one must cut off the head of the snake. Shah is not enough, he is simply the bait to bring out the men responsible for this madness. An evil that must be cleansed and made right. In exchange for help in manpower from the group and sabotage this operation, the group is promised vital equipment to fortify and shine their armor - stand proud; and help prevent the future loss of life. They've already lost so much, and too many; there's too much bloodshed in all of this. There must be heroes and good men and women out there still to help set the Earth back on the right path...right?
Man was born free, we were never meant to be confined in these walls, and used - physically or mentally.
