Outside the heavily fortified border of the Combine controlled cities and the remaining human settlements are a few pit stops along an inhospitable dilapidated road used by smugglers, traders, scavengers and various unsavoury individuals. If you are lucky you may yet find a safe refuge of a wasteland town that has not been overrun, raided or abandoned by its inhabitants. The many walls and bounty boards not only serve as the main nerve centers of information flowing through the wastes, but also retain function as the local history of a dying world.

Demi, if you're reading this then I apologize about the fresh bullet holes on the wall panel over by the window. An old friend stopped by to visit and brought some trouble with him. Naturally we took care of it but now I have no idea how long this place will remain safe for before more of them return. If my advice means anything I would not stick around here for much longer.
