Nigel A. Stalton (Circa 1996)
Alias: “Stag”/“The Stag”

Born in South Africa’s northern province capital of Kimberley during the age of Apartheid, Nigel Stalton was an avid hunter since childhood, hunting his first big-game during adolescence in the form of Cape Buffalo. Aside from the occasional recreational hunt, Nigel led a particularly unremarkable life as a Corporal within the South Africa Defence Force prior to its disbandment in 1994. Abandoning the SADF in the mid-90s with its replacement by the South African National Defence Force, he opted to instead join a roving band of sub-saharan mercenaries. Stalton’s noteworthy tenure at this time was within the First Congo War, contracted on behalf of the Mobutu regime. With the Mobutu’s defeat imminent, Stalton’s mercenaries disbanded and went into hiding resulting from their questionable rules of engagement during the war.

Nigel would resurface in the late 1990s as a rising figure within the central-African poaching trade, taking out prized and often endangered game both for a personal thrill of the hunt, as well as the wealth such illicit animal trade brings. It is at this point that his nickname, “The Stag”, was born. His operations have contributed significant attacks against Africa’s critically-endangered wild Northern White Rhino population, as well as Elephants, Lions, and Pangolins due to the high black-marketed demand of ivory, pelts, and medicinal ingredients from such game. His illegal poaching operations within various African nations have brought him the ire of national and international law enforcement agencies seeking his capture.

Following the Second Chornobyl Incident in the late-2000s, Nigel received word of the emergence of new, dangerous fauna emerging from the territory whilst conducting an ivory deal in the People’s Republic of China. Seeking a potential opportunity to exploit additional, high-value resources provided by the Zone’s mutant population (as well as the ability to hide from authorities in a “no man’s land”), The Stag arrived in the Zone in 2009.
