NOLA
New Orleans, Louisiana

2018

The city of life, the city of party. Home of Mardi Gras and Superbowl champions.

The effects of Hurricane Katrina are still being felt in this legendary city of the Southern United States. Suburbs still boarded up, stains still along the walls, and a mold infestation in practically every run down home that inhabits this damaged and healing City. A city that despite its destructive and intense experiences still holds up to this day. Constantly growing, constantly upgrading. Constantly healing.

New Orleans has endured so much through its time. The French, the Spanish, and finally its current ownership beneath that of the Americans. Despite this all it has held itself as the gem of the Mississippi and always brought itself up through whatever challenge it has endured...Just as many other American cities.

However the biggest challenge of all is soon to come. Unforeseen events loom on the horizon for the inhabitants of Earth.

Are they prepared?

Are you prepared?

What is this?

With a community vote being held due to general interest by the people within said community we have come to the amazing (seriously I love zrp) conclusion to hold a new ZRP between the end of MoF and the start of Stalker. With this comes the natural delay of Stalker by some time. However this delay will allow for a better overall experience with Stalker as we will be testing some features here that were posed to appear with Stalker. It's a good chance to stretch our legs and get the train rolling so that the community as a whole looks forward to what we have prepared and planned.

As for the server itself...Let's run through it!

Virulent is going to be getting a name revive...HOWEVER it will have absolutely no connection to the previous Virulent server. It is an entirely new experience that will be occurring within the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. We went with this setting due to the excellent work of @Pro1914 in the past with a map we used in the first ZRP. Some may remember this map...However most likely don't, as we had a very tiny community at that point!

What is the story here?

The story for this go around will actually be explained as we go. You are free to make your own story as you will be experiencing everything that happens on server itself as everything plunges into darkness. YOU WILL BE DOING REAL LIFE ROLEPLAY FOR ROUGHLY A FEW WEEKS TO EXPERIENCE THE DESCENT INTO CHAOS. Please do be prepared for all of this as the team itself will consistently be doing projects and side things to move things along and keep you all entertained.
As for the must know stuff. it is seen above in the IC section. Location, time, and a brief little background of your city of residency. You are to fill in the blanks and witness everything as it goes down. Be ready for a much more player and open experience than what was laid down with MoF. We have realized our mistakes narrative wise and we hope this next pathway will make it easier for you all to have an enjoyable and amazing experience!

What about the first responders?

First responders will be present! Firefighters, police officers, and EMT's will all be present and used on the server!

Applications for all of this will be posted within the coming days (Likely Thursday). Expect that to crop up in the new sections of the forums along with new prefixes to make it clear to admins what server you're applying for stuff on!

What about being a criminal or something similar?

You're free to do so. If you desire help in creating any criminal factions or hold any questions about it please do ask staff. Applications won't really be needed as we wish to create a similar atmosphere here as we desire for Stalker.

If you wish to mug someone...Go ahead. Take their car? Sure! We have already seen steps towards potentially having no-good doer chars and we fully support such ventures by the players and hope to see more of it :)

Anything else? Please ask below!

What about Veterans/National Guard/Reservists ? Any need for application for that ? Same question for owning firearms. Just wanting to be sure what are the limitations.

Obviously firearms are going to be restricted to some degree for the reason of keeping things fun with progression.

But for veteranssss...That can be asked on server. Let admins do a quick decision there! We really don't have anything against it however we do not want anything of Special Forces or Government Agent ofc.

tldr; ask staff upon server launch for a quick answer on if it fits the bill or not!

So I'm not sure how or what the process was for the last ZRP - but why will it be a few weeks of 'regular' people RP? I just remember it being a bit of a slog (in my eyes that is) when it came to pre-invasion... of course things sort of tumbled and became aghk after - not saying that ZRP will be so; I look forward to it.

As far as firearms goes, I'm not sure what you plan on doing - could have some sort of special 'martial law' type scenario that the majority of the firearms were taken by a mixture of the police & or military; could be for any particular reason.

I just hope our vision for the infected is a little more... Concrete this time around. I remember us fumbling around with some of the zombie variants and their introductions.

As always, I can help revitalize the maps if needed. After all I'd assume we wouldn't use the same prop-set for waterfront we used last time.

I wouldn't think too much into firearms tbh. Our first zrp we had a whole motto that there was alot of firearms but to keep them loaded was the issue. We'll probably do that here.

The regular rp was basically real life rp where things and events occur that push towards the outbreak itself. Our first ZRP barely had anyone playing so we had an issue of doing any of that...We plan to double down and make sure this ZRP has an outstanding first segment that'll make the outbreak and what comes after feel EARNED.

We won't be doing variants this time around. Imo the best time of ZRP was on Union City and NYCity where there was classic runners. We'll be doing that this time around.

Expect zombies to be terrifying and brutal...be careful when fighting them!

Some of you are gonna recognize them, buuut... Given how I never played him for a proper long-term Idyllic server outside of references and events, I may resurrect a familiar face.
