Statement by the New Orleans Police Department Public Information Office:
On the evening of November 25th 2018, officers responded to a motor vehicle accident underneath the Veterans Memorial Freeway.
Upon arrival, officers rendered first-aid to victims and began their investigation of the crash.
Approximately six minutes after first contact, officers received small-arms fire by a suspect. Officers engaged the threat and entered a foot-chase with the individual. The shooter managed to evade law enforcement by entering a manhole in a nearby business lot. Officers pursued, but were met with an ambush-like attack which resulted in minor injuries to two officers and severe injuries to one.
All three officers involved with the incident have been medically treated at a local hospital and remain in stable condition.
Investigations are currently on-going. No further information can be released at this time.
