S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and its future

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will come to an end.

S:NB itself was mishandled from the Day 1 of planning. Much of who was passionate for the project ended up vacating the community shortly after announcement nearly a year ago in July. The server, planned over the course of half a dozen months, came out entirely half baked due to our inability to balance this properly. Modeling came out late, coding was half-finished and untested, and the story itself was tossed into the wind in favor of trying to give players more independency than should be in STALKER. We set up this entire server to fail without even realizing it.

We cannot express how sorry we are for this part of Idyllic. I cannot tell you all how much it pains me to have wasted all of your time for these months and having only delivered on such a horribly bland set of script features. My team did the best they could with what they had, and they all deserve your thanks for their involvement and their hard work to even get this across the finish line. There is no blame to be put upon them as they did their best with what they had.

Thank you, @Vecilea @pants @AbeBatJes @rabbit @FactualDonkey @Lonesome @Zilly and the countless others that chipped in to drag this across the finish line.
I do understand how many of you may feel disheartened by this abrupt and cut short ending...However below I have given an entire compilation of the story and what we planned to play out on server.

We got past the Swamps and into garbage.

We introduced characters such as Professor Kellen and the faction of SIN onto the server, although the latter was very brief during the event within Rostok.

With the PDA found upon the corpse of 'Whisker', otherwise known as Vinzent Von Weber, within the Northern edge of Garbage the group was meant to extract information from the PDA to construct a map towards the inner area of the zone through the Red Forest section of the Exclusion Zone. Professor Kellen, likely cornered due to the state 'Whisker' was found within, was going to spill that the Zombies themselves are born through what is called the Brain Scorcher...And that passing through it normally is a death sentence however he knew of a pathway to get past. A map so complex that he had to get it sent out in chunks through the zone.

He also would have revealed that Vinzent was never alive. The Professor simply having used the mindless zombie as a vessel to deliver the message past the Brain Scorcher. Once he is questioned over the PDA and having exposed how 'Whisker' came to such a state he is able to inform the group that he has sent the last PDA over the Scorcher within the belly of a Chimera...With another poor former Stalker.

Once the group ventured into the Red Forest region and was fully exposed to that of SIN they would find themselves at odds with a newly rising faction, that being I.S.G. The group itself coming to be revealed as a multi-nation scientific group that housed several motives with no ethics within their forms of research. Live patients are captured and tested upon by I.S.G scientists and found to have contained tracking devices within their bodies. During the adventure to confront an I.S.G bunker they come to find that it is ENTIRELY empty and replaced with forces dawned in white and brown. They barely speak and a single foe fights as if he is four.

The group has encountered Monolith. Bathed in the blood of impotent eggheads. Whatever I.S.G characters we had at the time would've been found in the carnage...But as you know, that was none.

The group now moved by the secondary threat of Monolith move past the red forest further North. Here was our original plan to fast track right towards the area past the Reactor--which we'll do here to save time and words. Originally the faction of SIN would've been the primary force here. Bloodthirsty cultists that seemed to worship some god within the zone itself. A physical god that they can visit whenever they wished to.

Within an endless warzone the group comes to get the location of Professor Kellen, who has been aiding the group in navigation and spare jobs during this all, in a small bunker by the reactor. With a final push to go and finish the deed of a man that seemed so desperate to be freed from whatever position he was in the group would siege the bunker and completely wipe SIN out. Within this labyrinth of a bunker they would discover Professor Kellen.

He was no man. Fused with some pulsating rock, limbs snapped and a PDA jutting from his throat too, it comes to the realization that SIN was worshipping this man. However he was no god. From the moment they enter the room he comes to begging for a bullet. His form still spasming as fluid leaks from his mouth during his speaking. A small shrine sits beneath him, fit with photographs of his family and himself.

Professor Kellen was the villain the entire time. Albeit involuntarily. The group are left to decide the fate of a man they would all consider themselves associates of.

Regardless of what happens the zone doesn't seem to change. This long standing mission comes to a bleak end and the men and women within the mission are left wondering if even being here was truly worth it.

The events of the games would then unfold.

So what is next?

Over the past month we have compiled a dedicated team to plan our next server. Originally codenamed 'American Genesis' before quickly blossoming into what you will now know as Half Life: Genesis. The second server set within the Mirage of Freedom universe.

(Insert link to thread)

This server, launching later this summer, will contain months of work both on the script and storywise by nearly a dozen individuals on this team. We are taking our time with Half Life, as we intend to not repeat a single mistake that we did with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Thank you for attending Stalker: New Blood. We wish that it could have lasted much longer than it did.
