What is our first S.F.S?

The team can discuss the logistics of this. Maybe @Mickee can answer himself since he's the final say.

Though I think it'd be a gamble if we did two servers where either it would either boost playercount with the community generally for those who aren't a fan of one setting they have the other. That or it'd spread the players we already have thin and take away from both settings.

Doing just one at a time would have its own issues because it'd interrupt the momentum of the long form server and put a pause on what anyone there is doing which can cause its own issues. And if they aren't a fan of the current setting in the SFS they're kinda SOL.

So it's kinda a gamble, not to mention as Mickee mentioned the cost. I've started pitching some cash towards the effort but if y'all are interested in having an alternative run at the same time I think that would be our biggest hurdle.
I definitely don't think running two servers at the same time would be a good idea, as it would definitely split the player base. But I do think if enough people in the community have interest in switching to another long term server for a while before returning to HL2, then it could be a good idea.

I would rather keep HL2 as the main server we hold. Mirage of Freedom wont be a server that is 'Let's see how long we last!' instead it has a set story that we're slowly working through. At the current moment in time I want to say we're only 30%~ of the way through our planned narrative points and we haven't even hit the PHL2 portion of the server (yes it is coming).

SFS is just so MoF doesn't die on every end of the ball. Last thing I want is my playerbase burnt out, my admins burnt out, and myself burnt out as I was at the end of ZRP. SFS also allow us to expand and grow in size so we can get a larger playerbase to further enhance the general experience. Obviously everyone is not interested in HL2 off the rip but doing some SFS stuff based around other settings may draw them in to give Idyllic a chance.

I will keep the dual server idea in mind. It's perhaps something we'll explore further down the line.

fuck it, cave man rp

I already put my actual vote for the three proposed settings, so what I am about to say is more of a "pipedream" RP server (i.e. plot, characters, and entire systems haven't even been developed).

On the workshop, I have seen a significant amount of high-quality, underwater maps. Like abyssal research stations deep in the crushing, black depths of the ocean. Given the past, positive experiences I had with an SCP setting or The Thing in space... Perhaps an underwater horror SFS could be interesting. A singular station or complex of stations that starts to really go downhill from some sort of event.

If I did this it would likely be a form of Alien or something completely new and original.

If we wanted to be really silly, really goofy, really.. BANANAS.

We could do a Virulent SFS as planned, sure..

but we do it on Project Zomboid, and we do it on that fuck-ass big Russia overhaul

But that joke idea aside, the underwater one does sound really appealing.
