Resistance Bulletin Board

✝ 'Wasp'

Okay. Been a while since I put one of these out. Usually Maddie prefers to be writing the big bullet-point lists and all.

With Cities 17 and 98 out of action, it looks like Peterovich is left in charge of what's left.
And he's here in City 24. Frost and that evil Horizon Leader-looking Lady were with him in City 98,
so I'd wager they're probably here too. I know this is as vulnerable as they've ever been, but let's be honest--
we're pretty vulnerable right now too. I think we should pump the brakes a little.

Couple things we might wanna take care of before we go throwing ourselves into any more gunfights:

  • The wall protecting camp has a couple gaps. It could use reinforcing.
  • We're still short on beds and sleeping bags. Could loot or make some maybe? Sleeping on the floor sucks ass.
  • Rations aren't doing too hot. I think someone mentioned fishing yesterday
  • Medical supplies are getting a bit low. We should look for medicinal plants or an antlion hive.

I know ammo and explosives are running low right now, so I'll see if I can't get in touch with the MRC, Sable's group, Wasp's guys, or (long shot I know) Weronika from Pripyat. Might take a while to figure that out, though.

Oh, also-
A team went into the City and got their asses handed to them tonight.
Guess the City's still under Judgement Waiver.
If you go in there DO NOT TRY BLENDING IN THEY WILL SHOOT ON SIGHT.
Actually on second thought maybe just don't go in there at all for a little bit.

-Lucas

Just so you all know, I will be divvying up ammunition that needs it. Over time if you see me, ask for ammo when I'm not doing something important. And again, scout in pairs of 2 minimum. If I catch you scouting alone without expressed permission, I'll have you Baptized. -Joey

Mortars are gone. Nearly lost a couple of people in the getaway.
Peterovich personally put a knife in V's gut. Some new kind of Jump-Jet-OTF showed up and screwed the rest of us.

Peterovich hanged my mother in City 2.
Plans to do the same to Katya's brother in Norway.
And he's going to air Arthur's execution soon.

I'm not in any condition to be putting myself out there right now, and the city's likely even riskier than it was already.

Few days ago, some high-ranking cop in HORIZON offered a temporary truce if we helped him kill and replace his boss.
Starting to think this deal with the devil might be our best shot at saving Arthur.
Only question is how to shake his hand without selling our souls.

-Lucas

Be advised, I'm going on Sabatacle. I don't know how to actually spell that word so fuck you.

Anyway, I need a vacation from all of you for a little, so in my stead I'll put... none of you in charge of my job. Except maybe Chance or Frank. Anyway, good luck, Lucky. I'll be back in a week, maybe sooner, maybe later.

-Roos'.

Good news and bad news.

We got Arthur back, and nobody died. That's the good news.

However. he's looking a lot worse for wear-- the bastards cut his ear off, and he lost an arm in the escape. Might've been starving him, too.

The intel we recovered from hitting the Outpost nearby also shines a troubling light on some of HORIZON's more disturbing work:

Memory Replacement.

More specifically, a procedure they call "Full Pathway Overwrite". It seems they're perfecting the use of their brainwashing tech, and now they're capable of creating Manchurian Candidates out of unwilling prisoners, who then remain totally unaware of the tampering until they're triggered by some kind of special radio frequency or code-phrase.

HORIZON's already identifying high-priority targets within our ranks for this procedure. So we need to start concealing our identities as best as we can. Codenames, masks, et cetera.

And with Trey having been "activated" somehow, there's a possibility that there are sleeper agents within our ranks. So those of us who have been taken prisoner, or identified as priority targets on HORIZON's list should be supervised at all times just in case.

...That means Joey, Chance, and Arthur. Sorry guys.

I think we should also beef up our guard postings-- both at base camp and the ruins of the Outpost near the City gate. This should give us advanced warning and advantage against any APCs sent to the outlands.

...I'm not a big fan of the whole paranoia thing. Hopefully we can crack the encryption on the laptop and hard drive from that outpost and find records of who ACTUALLY got memrepped or not, or find some kind of cure or something. I don't know. We'll see.

Suck my hairy Asian balls.
-Joey.

P.S.: If I turn into a Horizon lackey just have someone flash me.

Solid operation on capturing the FOB.

As it stands, my condition is still unsuitable for combat.

However, I have investigated the FOB site to "liberate" some loose machinery for our usage.

I did not obtain any computational units. Only raw components (we cannot afford the risk of trackers or other records being traced from hijacked assets).

In short, I have obtained a small CCA storage locker (empty). I intend to appropriate the attached Holoprojector for our use.

It will not be as refined as what we encountered in 98, but it will at least be portable (provided we have a power supply).

Additionally, I will be open to providing breaching and clearing drills and additional firearms training upon request. If I cannot fight directly, I can at least maintain an advisory role.

A hand written note is tacked to the board with a splinter. The note is hand written but nearly machine like in quality.

"Hotchkiss; with the information that has come to light there is no longer any reason for us to be underestimating the enemy forces. Cipher seems to be just a regular old unit like my old one and beside the fact they are semi-trained killers I do not think we have anything extra to fear. However when it comes to any interaction with HORIZON units we need to be on guard at all times. Nothing they say can be trusted, nothing at all, no matter what connection you think you may have with them or if what they've told you in the past is true. It is a common tactic they deploy and I advise against taking the bait.

Secondly, I can only speak for myself when I say this. If I am to be captured by hostile forces, no longer consider me your ally under any circumstance, no matter what I may or may not say or what I do or do not do. Trey was converted from long distance and was an Intention Rank 2 from Jury, I was an Elite Unit from Orbit. There is no way to know for certain that any ex unit or POW is safe from them. I implore you, beg even. IF I AM CAPTURED OR SOMEHOW DEFECT AGAINST MY WILL BACK TO UNION FORCES DO NOT CONSIDER ME AN ALLY, DO NOT CONSIDER ME A FRIEND, DO NOT CONSIDER ME ANYTHING OTHER THAN ANOTHER ENEMY COMBATANT."

A vortigaunt named Valzun'Nak'Uum* led us to an old resistance safehouse in the slums.
Should serve us well as a rally point for future offensive operations, and as a fallback location to stabilize any battlefield casualties before transporting them back to the Outlands.

It's got some old computers and maps and plenty of small rooms if you're getting sick of listening to people snoring.
Mira and I lugged some of our medical supplies over there, and I think Remy was setting up an ICU before I came back to write this.

Might try to do some more recon in the city soon-- start probing any potential vulnerabilities in the Nexus's defenses. We've got the advantage right now, let's try not to lose it.

*I think that's how you would spell it. Do vortigaunts have written language?

I know it's not much, but we're safe here.

Until Rooster and the others catch up, we'll have to take rotating shifts watching the door.

I don't have a ton of medical supplies on me? But if we aren't dumb, what we've got should last us a couple days at least.

We'll probably want to deal with the xenian growths on the other side of the Generator Room-- carefully, though.
I've had more than enough Overgrowth shenanigans for two lifetimes.

Soon as we're all reunited, we're changing the frequency again. Yeah, I know. Pain in the ass.

HEY GUYS WE GOT A NEW BASE WITH ACTUAL BEDS AND A FULL KITCHEN!
Plus, it's got a jukebox with some real jams on it!

It's outside City limits, so you'll probably need someone to show you the way. But it's safer there, what with the Antlions AND HORIZON crawling all over the construction zone these days.

Dunno if Morgan and her new group of not-quite-rogue-yet cops are gonna be able to help us deal with that or not.
I've got a bad feeling about the whole thing, if I'm being totally honest.

PS - you guys know you can write stuff on here too, right? I'm starting to feel like a total dork being the only guy who puts notes on here.

-Lucas

I just like reading your shitty handwriting, dumbass

Alright. Everyone's in good shape, all our stuff is packed up, and the recent spike in Airwatch activity has subsided.

I think it's time we go for it.

The unit we captured, Rory Thatcher, gave us some info that seems corroborated by an old set of blueprints we found in that old nightclub, the Belmont.

Looks like that combine metal door in the sewers right before the ladder to the generator room is sub-surface access to the Nexus's lower levels.

The reactor specs powering the place mean we should have a 15 minute window before it can reach an irreversible meltdown state-- which means if we're fast, we shouldn't have to worry about Warsaw going the same way as Moscow. Failing that, we've got a second 15 minute window before complete detonation.

Somewhere further down than that is, according to Rory, a razor train line, running significant amounts of... something... somewhere else.

Dunno about you guys, but with Peterovich here, there's only one other place of high importance that would warrant that kind of logistical support:

Paris.

Building a relay strong enough to contact the rest of the Combine isn't gonna be cheap, so they’re probably pooling everything they've got into the effort underway there.

Lock and load, pack your stuff. Today, we're cutting the head off of this snake.

Peterovich must die.

Get me to the Reactor and I will attempt to cut off access from Peterovitch.

Take away that leverage, and he will have to fight us face-to-face. No attempt to take the district out along with us.

Should he not accompany us, I have set Mr. Thatcher's cell to have a timed release of twenty-four hours. Effective immediately.

He has already earned his freedom.

Tonight, we must earn ours.

WHOEVER KEEPS TAKING DOWN MY NOTES WARNING ABOUT THE OVERGROWTH OUTSIDE--
CUT IT OUT!
IT'S KIND OF IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE KNOW WHERE THE MAN-EATING PSYCHIC ALIEN FUNGUS IS.

-Lucas

I'm not a rather violent person, but I promise to find a can of soda or sparkling water and spray it up your nose to whomever IS removing the notes.

On a more friendly note - there should be a pair of train car things; should hold roughly a driver and two additional people.
